Penny Phillips is the visionary force behind Journey Strategic Wealth, and one of the few women founders leading a national Registered Investment Adviser. As Co-Founder and President, she has built a firm that not only champions advisor independence and business growth, but also prioritizes representation, inclusion, and support for women across the wealth management industry.

With over a decade of experience coaching and consulting financial advisors and institutions, Penny brings a unique blend of strategic insight, communication expertise, and practice management leadership. Before founding Journey, she launched Thrivos Consulting, a firm dedicated to helping financial advisors evolve their practices to meet the needs of a changing client base—including the rising influence of next-generation and female wealth holders.

Penny has held multiple leadership roles across financial services, where she authored training programs to empower advisors to modernize their client experience and build multigenerational firms. She is a monthly contributor to 

 advisor community, and a sought-after speaker at industry conferences across the U.S. and Canada.

Recognized as a finalist for Thought Leader of the Year (2021) and Innovator of the Year (2022) at the Wealth Management Industry Awards, Penny is committed to helping reshape the advisor landscape—making it more inclusive, future-ready, and values-driven.

She holds dual degrees in Economics and Corporate Finance from The Macaulay Honors College of New York and is certified in Advanced Behavioral Analysis. Born and raised in New York City, Penny is of Greek descent and speaks fluent Greek.

As Chief of Staff at Journey Strategic Wealth, Erin Moeller serves as the firm’s central connector, orchestrating people, processes, and priorities to ensure the organization runs smoothly and efficiently. She oversees firm-wide administrative workflow, internal and external communications, and key operational relationships, including vendors, strategic partners, and stakeholders. Erin’s role is essential to supporting both the leadership team and client-facing professionals in delivering an exceptional experience.

Before joining Journey, Erin spent over 11 years at TD Ameritrade, where she built a reputation for excellence in high-level executive support. There, she worked closely with the Board of Directors and most recently supported the President and CEO—developing deep expertise in organizational management and high-pressure decision environments.

Erin is known for her meticulous attention to detail, strategic coordination, and ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-volume settings. She is an active member of the American Society of Administrative Professionals and continuously invests in her professional growth through an outward mindset and leadership development lens.

Originally from Latham, NY, Erin holds an Associate of Science degree, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education, along with her teaching certification in English for grades 7–12. She is passionate about giving back and supports causes including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, SAY, and Habitat for Humanity.

Outside of work, Erin enjoys skiing, cooking, and exploring new places with her husband and their tabby cat, Beans.

With deep Seattle roots and over 15 years of experience, Laurie serves as a virtual financial advisor guiding women along the West Coast and across the U.S. Her practice focuses on helping women navigate retirement, inheritance, family transitions, and legacy planning with clarity and confidence.

Laurie brings a global perspective from her earlier career in international business—spanning art, fashion, and venture capital—which informs her strategic, thoughtful approach to financial planning. She holds a B.A. from the University of Washington’s Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and is fluent in Japanese.

She specializes in holistic planning and investment management, including retirement, intergenerational wealth, and philanthropic giving. A fiduciary and lifelong advocate for her clients, Laurie is known for transforming complexity into clarity and offering calm, compassionate guidance through every financial chapter.

She and her husband John enjoy travel, the arts, exploring new cultures, and plenty of good food.

FINANCIAL ADVISOR, MANAGING DIRECTOR

With decades of experience in financial advising, John brings both depth and breadth to his work with clients, combining technical expertise with a calm, caring approach. His specialties span investments, insurance, and mortgage lending, and he has guided hundreds of individuals and businesses toward their financial goals through focused analysis and clear, practical advice.

John built and sold a multimillion-dollar mortgage brokerage early in his career, giving him the freedom to pursue world travel and personal growth —experiences that continue to shape his holistic approach to advising. His work blends financial planning with a deep respect for personal development and spiritual insight, helping clients align their wealth with their values and life purpose.

John holds a B.A. from the University of Houston and earned his Certified Financial Planner™ designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver. He now collaborates closely with his wife, Laurie, serving clients across the country with a shared commitment to clarity, compassion, and long-term vision.

Jason leads our investment team with more than 18 years of experience across institutional and high-net-worth wealth management. As Director of Portfolio and Wealth Advisory at Journey Strategic Wealth, he is responsible for setting investment strategy, overseeing portfolio construction, and guiding advisors and clients through complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence.

Prior to joining Journey, Jason served as Chief Operating Officer of an institutional broker-dealer and Director of Investments at a prominent Registered Investment Advisory firm. In these executive roles, he chaired Investment Committees, conducted rigorous manager due diligence, and led the design and management of sophisticated portfolios for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

Jason holds a BS in Finance from the University of Delaware and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) charter holder. He is an active member of the CFA Society of New York, where he stays engaged in the latest industry research and investment thinking.

Jason lives in New Jersey with his wife, Caroline, and their daughter, Ava Marie. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active, exploring markets, and spending quality time with his family.

Paul brings a thoughtful, research-driven approach to portfolio construction and investment strategy. He began his career in wealth management as a portfolio and investment research analyst, serving high-net-worth individuals with customized strategies aligned to their long-term goals. His work includes in-depth market analysis, portfolio optimization, and supporting advisors in delivering well-informed investment decisions.

Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Anthropology from Skidmore College. He is currently a CFA Level III candidate, demonstrating his commitment to deepening his technical expertise and advancing in the investment profession.

Based in New York City, Paul is also actively involved in the community. He serves on the Junior Board of ExpandED Schools, a nonprofit that supports more than 900 afterschool programs in partnership with public schools across the city. Outside the office, he enjoys golfing and spending time with family and friends.

INVESTMENT ANALYST

Cody brings energy, precision, and a strong foundation in financial markets to his role on the investment operations team. He began his career at Fidelity Investments as a full-service Financial Representative, where he developed his skills in client service and investment strategy. Prior to joining Journey, he worked on the equity and options trading desk at Osaic, gaining hands-on experience in trade execution and market operations.

A proud Rutgers University alumnus, Cody earned his B.A. in Economics with a minor in Computer Science—an academic background that supports his data-driven, systems-oriented approach to investment operations.

Based in New Jersey, Cody is an avid supporter of Rutgers football and enjoys skiing in the winter months.

Charles serves as Strategic Partner and Advisor at Journey Strategic Wealth, where he is an investor and a valued member of the firm’s Investment Committee and strategic leadership team. His involvement reflects a deep conviction in Journey’s mission and long-term vision, and he brings decades of investment experience to help guide the firm’s growth and portfolio strategy.

He is the Managing Partner of Echelon Investment Partners LP, a firm he founded in 2016 that invests in financial services companies, structured credit, and private credit. Prior to Echelon, Charles served as Managing Director for a multi-strategy family office, overseeing a diversified portfolio of managers and asset classes. His earlier experience includes roles as Partner at Dynasty Wealth Management and leading the ultra-high-net-worth multi-asset trading desk at Bank of America Merrill Lynch / U.S. Trust.

Charles holds a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University, where he was a four-year starter and senior-year co-captain of the varsity football team. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for The Siadat Family Foundation and Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton and is a board member of Halcon Ceramicas and Alternative Fund Advisors.

With nearly two decades of experience in financial services, Beth brings deep expertise and a client-first mindset to every relationship. Prior to joining our team, she held leadership roles at Osaic and Buckingham Wealth Partners, where she focused on enhancing the client experience and streamlining service operations across the country. At Buckingham, Beth spent over a decade supporting both the TAMP and RIA sides of the business and worked closely with some of the firm’s largest advisory teams. Her passion lies in making financial relationships feel seamless, supportive, and thoughtfully managed.

Beth grew up and lives in the San Jose, California area. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. A committed community volunteer, she has been an active member of the Junior League of San Jose since 2006, serving in several leadership roles including Communications Director, Executive Vice President, and Vice President of Finance. Outside of work, Beth enjoys reality TV, knitting, and giving back through volunteer service.

Amanda plays a pivotal role for our clients, managing investment operations with a focus on precision, accountability, and exceptional client service. As Investment Operations Manager, she is responsible for overseeing the systems, processes, and people that keep the firm’s investment engine running smoothly for us. Her work ensures that you experience operational excellence at every touchpoint—from onboarding to ongoing portfolio management.

Since joining Journey, Amanda has grown into a role where she collaborates across teams to streamline workflows, integrate custodial platforms, and support advisors with complex trading and account operations. She brings a calm, solutions-oriented mindset and is often the go-to resource for resolving nuanced operational challenges.

Amanda began her career in the Philadelphia network office of Northwestern Mutual, where she served as Assistant Director of the Financial Planning Department. She also gained valuable experience in the RIA space, building a foundation in both client service and operations. Currently, she is pursuing advanced industry credentials to further deepen her technical expertise.

Amanda holds a B.S. in Economics from The University of Scranton and is passionate about supporting financial professionals in delivering seamless, high-touch service. Originally from Binghamton, NY, she now lives in Philadelphia. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys traveling, fitness, and spending time at the beach.

INVESTMENT OPERATIONS MANAGER

With a broad foundation in retail brokerage, benefits and investment solutions, trade support, and portfolio administration, Karen applies a rigorous business-analyst mindset to every aspect of financial operations. As Assistant Vice President at a leading RIA, she has spent recent years optimizing overlay management, refining trading workflows, and streamlining operations for both separately managed and unified account platforms. Her relentless focus on identifying roadblocks and designing scalable solutions consistently elevates the client experience.

Karen holds a B.A. in Psychology from Trinity College and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is passionate about leveraging her background in human behavior to pioneer advancements in behavioral economics within the wealth-management industry.

Ryan plays a key role in ensuring seamless, accurate, and timely investment operations that support both clients and advisors. With a strong focus on service and precision, he brings dedication to the behind-the-scenes processes that keep financial plans running smoothly.

After earning his Finance degree from Gwynedd Mercy University in 2019, Ryan began his career at Northwestern Mutual, where he held several roles supporting investment operations, insurance, and financial planning. Most recently, he served as Associate Financial Representative (AFR) to a top-producing firm within the Philadelphia Agency, where he gained hands-on experience managing complex client portfolios.

Ryan is currently pursuing his MBA with a concentration in Financial Management at Temple University’s Fox School of Business, further enhancing his technical knowledge and strategic capabilities. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys coaching lacrosse, snowboarding, and relaxing at the beach.
